Schools' Basketball All-Ireland finals: Templeogue College were celebrating at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght yesterday, as they completed a league and cup double on day two of the All-Ireland Schools' League finals.
Templeogue's under-16 boys side came from behind in the final quarter of their B final, before finally defeating Scoil Dara, Kilcock 41-37, with Alan O'Brien and David Guilmartin influential throughout. Kilcock's David O'Keefe's 22-point haul made him the game's top scorer.
However, the girls' from St Paul's Oughterard couldn't complete a double of their own, as the O'Reilly twins, Orla and Sinead, inspired Ursuline Convent Cork to a 47-39 victory in the Cadette B final.
The O'Reilly's scored all but two of Ursuline's points, with Orla's 28-point performance earning her the MVP award.
In the boys' under-19 B final, a strong first-quarter performance from Castleisland Community College helped them to defeat St Muiredach's College 61-54 and take the title.
There was better luck for a side from Ballina in the boys' under-16 C final, where Moyne College survived a late scare before disposing of Sliabh Luachra, Rathmore 44-41.
