Tony Adams has eased Arsenal's defensive injury crisis by making a surprise return to training and will partner Gilles Grimandi. Right-back Lee Dixon is still out after a cartilage operation but Oleg Luzhny has recovered from a knee ligament problem and comes in.

Rod Wallace could start after coming off the bench and marking his debut in midweek with a goal against Blackburn. The 31-year-old striker showed he had lost little of his sharpness despite training on his own for three months.

Wales midfielder Matthew Jones is a doubt after having six stitches in a head wound. Muzzy Izzet and James Scowcroft are also doubtful but Gary Rowett could return after a knee injury.

Fulham's £11.5million man Steve Marlet (right) is likely to make his full debut after recovering from knee injury. He is expected to start up front alongside Louis Saha but Alain Goma is still out with a hip problem.

Liverpool are without Steven Gerrard, who starts a three-match suspension, and, with Dynamo Kiev due at Anfield next Wednesday in the Champions League, the likes of Jari Litmanen, Robbie Fowler, Vladimir Smicer, Jamie Redknapp and Nick Barmby could figure at some point.

Tottenham have named an unchanged squad. Manager Glenn Hoddle was delighted with the 2-1 win at Sunderland on Wednesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could have played himself into a starting place against Ipswich after impressing as a late substitute in the Champions League clash with Lille. Gary Neville (below) is could be ruled out after suffering concussion against the French outfit but Andy Cole is included in the squad.

Ipswich will use the same squad on duty for last night's UEFA Cup tie against Torpedo Moscow. Alun Armstrong (concussion) will miss out, but Italian keeper Matteo Sereni will play after his red card for an incident with Robbie Savage at Leicester last weekend has been rescinded.

Charlton hope to have last season's leading scorer Jonatan Johansson back after three matches out with an injured ankle. Club captain Mark Kinsella could also start, having returned to action as a substitute last week following a hernia operation in the summer.

Chelsea have concerns over Marcel Desailly (ankle) and Jesper Gronkjaer (calf), who both missed the club's UEFA Cup first round tie against Levski Sofia on Thursday but they are said to be on the mend.

Middlesbrough striker Alen Boksic could return to action for the first time since the opening day of the season after finally shaking off a troublesome calf injury to take his place in Steve McClaren's squad.

Derby's Horacio Carbonari is unlikely to make his comeback from a back injury. Goalkeeper Mart Poom has still not fully recovered from bruised ribs and although Belgian striker Branko Strupar played in a private friendly this week, he will not be ready.

Glenn Roeder hopes to have his front-line partnership of Paolo di Canio (ankle) and Frederic Kanoute (hamstring) available after both strikers missed last weekend's defeat at Middlesbrough. New signings Don Hutchison and Tomas Repka could also make home debuts.

Newcastle's French winger Laurent Robert has recovered from a virus but Gary Speed, Wayne Quinn and Aaron Hughes are all out with hamstring injuries while Carl Cort and Kieron Dyer remain long-term absentees. Sylvain Bistin, who made his debut as a late substitute in last Saturday's 4-3 win over Manchester United, is in the squad.
