REQUIN BLEU, a comprehensive winner on his debut over seven furlongs at the Curragh in March could be smart. He will be put to the test by Pro Trader and Sheffield - and not to mention the Dundalk winner Tikashar in tomorrow's Oldtown Stud Race at Naas.
Parade Sauvage, runner up to Requin Bleu, finished last behind Ta Rib in the French 1,000 Guineas but was earlier runner up to the subsequent Chester winner and Irish Oaks bound Tout A Coup at the Curragh. There is little to choose between Pro Trader and Sheffield on their initial runs behind Dance Clear at Leopardstown.
The Jim Bolger trained Sheffield finished a close up third behind Rainbow Blues in a listed race at the Curragh in October and the later had a luckless passage in the Birdcatcher Nursery over this course. Requin Bleu might well win again but I prefer to take a chance with the filly Sheffield who will be much the better for her last race.
James Burns might win the Tipper Maiden with Hint Of Romance. The filly was no match toy Diali at Gowran Park and the winner failed to advertise the form behind the Burns trained Irish 1,000 Guineas bound Tossup at Leopardstown last Saturday. However, Hint Of Romance is preferred to Khambani, runner up to Loughmogue in a handicap at Navan last time out.
The Dermot Weld trained Dancing Fred could complete a hat trick in the Go Racing In Kildare Handicap. Having won at Tipperary the selection carried his penalty to success at the Curragh, but only just. I will take a chance with Miss The Post who ran well at Killarney and should be better suited to this shorter trip.
Runner up to Tarwara on his debut at the Curragh in October the Tommy Stack trained Helsingor appears to have a good chance of opening his winning account in the Woodlands Maiden.
Third behind Metastasio in the Carroll Handicap Hurdle at Dundalk Tryfirion can defy top weight in the Osberstown Handicap Hurdle and Miss The Post's trainer Willie Mullins may complete a double with the consistent Toureen Gale in the Blessington Flat Race.
