INTENSE preparation for Ireland's best swimming prospects is reaping encouraging results this week in the European Junior Championships in Copenhagen.
To date six Irish junior records have been broken by Graham Beegan (Cormorant) Niamh Cawley (Claremorris) and Lee Kelleher (Cork).
IASA recorder Sean Gordon said: "Maybe no medals yet but some very good swims. Lee Kelleher's times are also new Irish youths records."
Beegan followed up his 200 metres individual medley record on Thursday with bests in the 400 IM heat (4:42.2) and final (4:40.80). Cawley went 1:07.3 for the 100 metres breaststroke while in the 200 metres butterfly Kelleher swam 2:19.96 in his heat and 2:19.88 in the final.
