Norway seemed to take Egil Olsen's sacking as Wimbledon manager last week a bit personally, so much so Anglo-Norwegian relations may never recover. "You (England) have been looking for revenge since Norway beat you and stopped you qualifying for the 1994 World Cup finals - well, now you have finally got it," snarled Davy Wathne, a sports correspondent with TV2 in Norway, when interviewed on Sky News on Monday. "A brain surgeon shouldn't have to work with peasants", the Mirror quoted former Wimbledon player Stale Solbakken as saying, in reference to Olsen's unhappy spell at the club.
