THE Belfast High School right wing Jonathan Davis scored two more tries as the Ireland Schools recorded their fourth successive victory, this time at the expense of a strong New South Wales side at the North Sydney Oval yesterday. Davis has now scored five tries in the three games he has played on the Australian tour.
Ireland's other try scorers were skipper Barry Gibney, fullback Tom Keating and scrum half Ciaran Scally, all of Blackrock College. The Bangor Grammar School outside half Bryn Cunningham kicked two conversions.
Ireland led by 12-3 at half time, as Cunningham converted Gibney's try and Davis got over for his first. Jesse Markham landed a penalty goal for NSW just before the interval.
After a good move, Keating came outside Davis to score Ireland's third try, and then Davis got over again to put Ireland ahead 22-3 with 20 minutes left, before Nathan McLoughlin got in for an unconverted NSW try. A fine break by Scally earned him a brilliant try, which Cunningham converted.
Just before the final whistle the NSW fullback Ryan Cross scored a try which he also converted.
