Last year's beaten finalists Skerries qualified for a quarter-final meeting with Barnhall after they defeated TCD in the Leinster Senior Cup at Holmpatrick yesterday evening. The home side laid the foundations for victory in the first half thanks to tries by wingers Edward Caraher and Patsy Beggs to give them a 15-6 half-time lead.
The visitors came back strongly in the second period and a try by fullback Shane McLoughlin gave them some hope. However, a try by Skerries flanker Derek Keane sealed TCD's fate and gave the sea-siders a fully deserved victory.
