ON Tuesday night John Reynold's Chocolate Bar was crowded with teeny boppers (that's teeny as in tiny, as opposed to an abbreviation for teenagers). The reason for the post kindergarten influx was the arrival of Boyzone's Stephen Gately to launch Colet hair products.
Stephen's the super cute one and it's a sign of his own youthful enthusiasm that he was able to be at a very late night party the night before in London and still be in the mood for endless photographs and autographs with his fanettes.
The London party was to launch the band's new album A Different Beat and, according to Stephen, it was a Hallowe'en extravaganza in a mansion with every room decorated in a different, gothic style.
Such a lavish bash is a sure sign of the high hopes their record company has for the album and they must be dismayed by what's happening in the Irish charts. Straight in at No 1 is Fold Of Our Fathers, with soprano Regina Nathan, which is a compilation of the hymns we all used to sing in church before the deadly Morning Has Broken caught on and the guitar strumming started. Ms Nathan can be seen next Thursday night at St Patrick's Cathedral in a charity conceit for St Francis's Hospice in Raheny. Organised by Sutton Park School, the programme will include the Faure Requiem. Tickets at the door.
