GRAEME SOUNESS is poised to become coach of Italian second division side Torino next season after a successful meeting with the club's officials.
Souness, who saved Southampton from relegation last season, has agreed terms with the Turin club and should sign for them next Monday.
"I'll admit, that's the idea," said Souness, former manager of Rangers, Liverpool and Galatasaray.
However, he stopped short of signing anything during Sunday's meeting near Genoa with Torino director general Renato Bodi and other club officials.
Meanwhile, Juventus defender Sergio Porrini is set to strengthen Rangers Italian connection by joining the Scottish champions for £3.5 million later this week. The 28-year-old has been offered a four-year contract worth around £750,000 a year to play for the Ibrox club and is reported to have accepted it.
