Crystal Palace Cabaye on verge of Selhurst move

Crystal Palace are in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Yohan Cabaye in what would amount to a club record deal. Palace have been encouraged by Cabaye being tempted by a move to Selhurst Park. The midfielder, a £19 million signing from Newcastle in January 2014, started only 13 Ligue 1 games last season and is concerned a lack of first-team football may affect his chances of making the France squad for next summer's European Championship in his homeland. The 29-year-old is attracted to the idea of working with his former manager on Tyneside, Alan Pardew, and would cost around £10 million. Southampton may rival Palace if Morgan Schneiderlin, as expected, moves to Manchester United. -Dominic Fifield

Coates set for Sunderland

The Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates is expected to join Sunderland for a fee of £4 million. The Uruguay international spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light where he initially struggled to secure a regular first-team place under Gus Poyet but established himself in the side once Dick Advocaat took over as manager. In total, the 24-year-old made 13 appearances for Sunderland and Advocaat's decision to turn his temporary stay into a permanent move encouraged Coates to follow suit. -Andy Hunter
