Sligo Rovers 3 Galway United 0:JOSEPH NDO, John Dillon and Pádraig Amond were on the mark as 10-man Sligo Rovers cruised to victory over Galway United at the Showgrounds last night.

Danny Ventre was red-carded for a second bookable offence in the 51st minute and Sligo assistant manager Gerry Carr was also sent to the stands.

Ndo put Sligo ahead in the 25th minute with a right-foot shot from 30 yards that whistled into the bottom corner of Barry Ryan’s net.

Former Sligo player Gary Curran saw his free-kick from the edge of the box well-blocked after 35 minutes while Iarflaith Davoren, playing against his former club, shot narrowly wide of the Galway goal two minutes later.

Karl Sheppard and Derek O’Brien peppered the Sligo goal towards of the end of the half but Galway were rocked when Dillon rattled the net two minutes from the break. Amond wrapped up matters when he added Sligo’s third in the 55th minute.
