Sligo Grammar School, the current Senior Cup holders, took a step further in their bid to retain the title with a deserved victory over Garbally College, Ballinasloe, in a quarter-final at Garbally yesterday. Sligo took the lead on five minutes, when scrum-half Niall Draper picked the ball from the base of a ruck and popped over for a try. Gary Boland added the conversion.

On 32 minutes, Sligo had their second try. Niall Carson, Niall O'Hara and Wesley Maxwell were all involved and Pierce Feeney touched down in the corner.
