UCD 0 Sligo Rovers 1:EOIN DOYLE rediscovered his goal touch to get Sligo's title challenge back on track – but Paul Cook's side should have won by more at UCD on Saturday night.
Leading scorer Doyle hadn’t found the net for Sligo in their previous three league games, none of which they’d managed to win.
But he was back on his game with a well-taken 17th goal of the season on 38 minutes to break the deadlock in a lively match.
Ever influential captain Richie Ryan threaded a delightful ball through for the run of Doyle who rounded College keeper Ger Barron to slide the ball home.
“The kid’s movement is ridiculous,” said Cook of Doyle. “I think Eoin will have a great future in the game, I really do.
“The movement he has in the box, at times we don’t put enough balls into the box to maximise his movement. I think his movement is as good as you’ll see in Ireland. He’s fantastic.”
“We’re back onto the shirt-tails of where we want to be,” said Cook on Sligo’s return to form.
