The unpredictability of the Premier Division sees Shamrock Rovers still top despite having lost three of their last five games - both Bohemians and Cork City having blown their chances to take over the leadership.

Damien Richardson's side can now open up a four-point lead with an expected win over a Galway team full of heart but lacking in too many areas to suggest they will survive in the top flight for a third season.

Rovers captain Derek Tracey remains sidelined for another week, at least, following the nasty leg cut sustained against Shelbourne, while Marc Kenny has the flu. Pat Deans is also a major doubt with a hamstring strain so Shane Robinson comes in.

"It's going to be very tough for us against a Rovers side in very good form," said Galway assistant manager, Eddie Hickey.
