The former England international footballer Mick Channon teamed up with an avid Scotland fan to clinch victory with Seazun in the Shadwell Stud Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket yesterday.

John Breslin was at his base in Hong Kong as his filly displayed great spirit to land the spoils in the £137,000 Group One contest. Seazun battled on bravely in the hands of Richard Quinn to deny Torgau by a head.

"John's been with me as an owner for a while - but I can tell you he's a Jock through and through," grinned Channon.

Seazun was justifying Channon's aggressive policy with his two-year-olds. He has run 62 horses from that age group this season with half of them winning at least once.
