San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice set one NFL record and combined with quarterback Steve Young to tie another on the same play in yesterday's 28-10 victory over the St Louis Rams.

Just 27 seconds into the game, Young rolled to his left and found Rice with a 12-yard touchdown pass, marking the record 184th consecutive game Rice has made at least one reception.

Rice passed the previous record established by former Washington Redskins great Art Monk, bringing to 13 the number of NFL records owned by Rice.

Among his records, the future Hall of Famer holds the league's all-time marks for receptions (1,092), receiving yards (17,018), touchdowns (170), receiving touchdowns (159), 100-yard receiving games (62) and 1,000-yard seasons (11).

Rice, 36, said he rates his latest rewriting of the record book high on his list of accomplishments. "I really have a lot of respect for Art Monk," Rice said. "I feel, no doubt, he was one of the best receivers to ever play the game and it is an honour for me to go out and break his record."
