REVOQUE continues to grab the attention for the 2,000 Guineas with Ladbrokes and William Hill elevating him to favourite in their betting yesterday,

Robert Sangster's colt is now the 7 to 2 with both firms. Ladbrokes report several four-figure single bets as well as doubles with 1,000 Guineas contenders Sleepytime and Pas de Reponse.

"The confidence of Revoque's connections has been passed on to our customers and they have been piling into the horse today, and we have taken at least six four-figure bets already," said Ladbrokes spokesman Ian Wassell.

The exact size of Saturday's 2,000 Guineas field, expected to be one of the highest in the past 14 years, is still uncertain.

Aidan O'Brien is unsure whether to pitch Royal Affinity into the fray while Richard Hannon has almost certainly ruled out Deadly Dudley. Sheikh Mohammed is still mulling over a possible two-pronged attack on the race with Cape Cross and Starborough.

Royal Affinity and O'Brien's 1,000 Guineas candidate Dangerous Diva worked at Ballydoyle yesterday morning. But a spokesman for the trainer said: "Aidan needs more time to think about it and talk with the owners."

Deadly Dudley was taken to Newbury racecourse yesterday morning for a workout but his trainer believes the ground will be unsuitable at Newmarket. "I doubt whether he'll run at Newmarket unless we get a downpour and he'll probably go to France for their 2,000 Guineas," said Hannon.

"He worked well at Newbury this morning on the soft ground but the way things are going ate Newmarket it will be too dry.

Sheikh Mohammed, who won the Classic for the first tinge when Pennekamp took the prize two years ago, could allow both his remaining entries to take their chance at Newmarket. His racing manager Anthony Stroud said: "Cape Cross will run, although his jockey has still to be decided. And Starborough could possibly run too, we will decide in the next day or two. If he does I would imagine Kevin Darley will ride him."

Cape Cross, trained by John Gosden, was third behind leading Guineas hope Desert Story in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket a fortnight ago.
