Britain's Alison Nicholas returns to action after a three-week rest in the £300,000 Hennessy Cup which begins today at Refrath in Cologne. Nicholas took a well-earned break after becoming only the second British golfer to win the US Open in Oregon last July. She has now set her sights on another target, attempting to win the American Express Tour Order of Merit.
"I have finished second three times in a row and would like to win it," she said.
Nicholas is currently in fourth place with earnings of £69,235 from six tournaments this year behind Annika Sorenstam (£87,806), Marie-Laure de Lorenzi (£75,686) and Helen Alfredsson (£73,662).
Sorenstam is three short of the mandatory six tournaments to qualify and Alfredsson will be one short after defending her title this week.
Alfredsson won the title for a third time last year when she beat Lotta Neumann and Britain's Trish Johnson in a play-off.
Johnson, the 1990 winner, is in the field of 66 this week which includes Laura Davies and Midland's golfer Lisa Hackney who is heading for the LPGA's Rookie of the Year award.
