LEICESTER JOB: Harry Redknapp has confirmed he will be having talks with Leicester later this week regarding the vacant manager's job.
The former West Ham boss, director of football at first division Portsmouth, said he would be faced with a difficult decision if he was offered the chance to replace Peter Taylor, who was axed as Foxes manager on Sunday night.
But Redknapp - who is believed to be top of the Filbert Street short-list - admitted he missed being a manager and said he owed it to himself to at least hear what Leicester had to say.
"I am going to see the Leicester people this week and have a chat with them, then we shall see where we go from there," confirmed Redknapp.
"I want to talk to them and find out what the job is all about."
England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, meanwhile, still has a high opinion of Taylor and telephoned him on Sunday after becoming aware of his fate.
But he refused to be drawn yesterday on whether Taylor, caretaker coach for last year's international in Italy, would have a role to play with England in the future.
ROYLE SUES: Former Manchester City manager Joe Royle is suing the Maine Road club for a reported £500,000.
Royle (52), has issued a writ for unfair dismissal and is contesting the level of compensation he has already received.
City sacked Royle after their relegation from the Premiership at the end of last season - and he now claims in his action he should not have been fired.
Royle, who has already received around £200,000 in compensation from the club, said: "The matter is in the hands of my solicitors and that is all I can say. The issues at stake are the level of settlement and unfair dismissal."
City chairman David Bernstein said: "This is not a matter I wish to comment on, but clearly the club will strongly defend this unnecessary action."
REBROV STAYS: Glenn Hoddle insists club record signing Sergei Rebrov is going nowhere despite speculation linking him with a move to Italy.
Hoddle has reaffirmed his belief that the Ukraine striker has a major role to play at the club even though he is reportedly being trailed by Lazio and AC Milan.
Rebrov, an £11million signing a year ago, has yet to start a Premiership match this season and is rumoured to be unhappy, but Hoddle has insisted there is no problem.
A move to Italy is unlikely at this stage as the transfer window has closed until the end of the year. "I am sure Sergei will be playing a big part in this club and I have told him that," said Hoddle.
"It is a long, hard season, and I have had a chat with Sergei and told him this. I am sure he is going to contribute to this club in a big way.
"At this moment in time he hasn't started in the team but it is not because he isn't playing well, it has been for other reasons, such as tactical considerations.
DUBLIN'S REPRIEVE: Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin's red card against Southampton on September 24th was yesterday rescinded by the English FA. Dublin was sent off after swinging an elbow at Saints' Moroccan defender Tahar El Khalej during Villa's 3-1 win at St Mary's Stadium.
But television replays showed minimal contact between the players and Dublin has had his suspension overturned by the FA.
A Villa spokesman said: "we are absolutely delighted with the outcome and that Dion will not have to serve any suspension.
"We always felt things that happened on the night were a bit harsh. We hoped that common sense would prevail - and it has."
