Sligo Rovers v Cork City:YOU sense that it's a case of their next game not coming quickly enough for Sligo Rovers and Cork City at the Showgrounds tomorrow night as they both lick their wounds following disappointment during midweek.
Sligo return from Albania having been knocked out of the Uefa Europa League by KS Vllaznia, a side they must know they should not have lost to over the two legs, while Cork are eager to bounce back from their midweek home defeat to St Patrick’s Athletic.
“Sligo will not be an easy game, but it does offer us an opportunity to get back to winning ways after the defeat to Pat’s on Tuesday,” said Cork manager Paul Doolin.
“At the moment we just don’t seem to be able to put a consistent run of results together. Ideally you would pick up at least a point out of every game. You have to pick up points when you’re not playing well, but we’re not doing that.
“We need to put a run together again,” he added. “One win is no good if you lose the next week, you need to look at winning five or six games.”
Defender Robert Mezeckis and winger Billy Dennehy remain sidelined with Achilles’ heel and hamstring injuries respectively while influential midfielder Joe Gamble must pass a fitness test on a knee injury.
An ankle injury is again likely to deprive Sligo of the steadying authority in their defence of Gavin Peers.
