Gareth Bohill showed some fine form when winning the first BMW-sponsored Hilary outing at the Portmarnock Links on Sunday. The Co Louth Senior Cup player shot a nett 68 to win the top prize from John Grant (The Island) and Ray Hannon (Sutton). Bohill was three over par after four holes but shot five birdies in the next 10 holes for a gross 71. Leslie Walker from the Dundalk club won the professional gross with a 73 while Mark Collins (Sutton) was just one shot back on 74 when winning the amateur gross.

Meanwhile, Michael O'Brien used all his local knowledge to win the Christy O'Connor Jnr Oyster Society outing at Co Sligo. O'Brien, who plays to a 13 handicap, covered the course in six over par for 43 points - five clear of second placed Ernest Egan (Galway Bay) with Barry Cunningham (Galway) third on 37 points.
