At the Antrim convention in Ballymena, present chairman Joe O'Boyle was returned by a massive majority, beating the former Antrim hurling team manager, Jim Nelson, 139 votes to 38.

In his address, the chairman said that the redevelopment of Casement Park was progressing well and that their opening date is still on track. The cost of the redevelopment is around £2 million, paid for by grants from various bodies and all of the money is almost in place.

He also told the delegates that a full-time secretary would soon be appointed to operate the affairs of the county.
