Plumpton washed out

Yesterday's meeting at Plumpton became the latest victim of the wet spell hitting some parts of Britain. The fixture was called off following an early morning inspection. After walking the track, assistant clerk of the course Paul Deacon said: "The meeting has been abandoned due to waterlogging. The track was perfectly raceable yesterday and we hadn't had any rain until last night.

"But we have had getting on for a quarter of an inch since the early hours of this morning and it is still raining and that's pushed us over the top."

Monday's meeting at Haydock was also lost due to waterlogging and yesterday's fixture at Stratford was only given the go-ahead following a course inspection.
