Porterfield and Wilson join Ireland's T20 World Cup coaching staff

Former captains link up with squad as wicketkeeping and fielding coaches

Former captains William Porterfield and Gary Wilson have been added to the Irish coaching ticket for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup.

The Irish Times understands that Porterfield will act as fielding coach while Wilson has been appointed as wicketkeeping coach. Both will also work with the squad’s batters.

Wilson, who retired from playing earlier this year, is currently the head coach of the North West Warriors. He has already joined the group and is undergoing a hotel quarantine in Dubai.

Porterfield, as well as serving as Wilson’s assistant at the Warriors, is a current international having played as recently as this month against Zimbabwe. He will begin his six-day quarantine after arriving in the UAE later on Tuesday.
