LIMERICK: The Limerick County Board last night endorsed the football board's recommendation that Mick "Ned" O'Sullivan be appointed manager of the county football team, succeeding Liam Kearns.
The former Kerry star requested the names of suitable candidates be made available to him for consideration as selectors. O'Sullivan, who has been offered a one-year contract, was one of six candidates interviewed for the position.
County board chairman Denis Holmes said at the request of hurling manager Joe McKenna, the naming of his two selectors had been delayed until next Monday.
ANTRIM: The Antrim County Board will interview five candidates - Jim McKiernan, Kevin McNaughton, Paul McKillen, David Foley from Dublin and Seán Farrell from Cork - for the vacant senior hurling manager position.
Current football manager Michael Culbert is expected to be retained for another year.
WESTMEATH: New Westmeath manager Tomás Ó Flatharta has named county secretary Paddy Collins and former county minor manager Frank Mescall as his selectors.
AWARDS: The GAA will honour 15 of the best players from the teams which participated in the inaugural Christy Ring and Nicky Rackard Cup competitions at Croke Park on Saturday, November 26th.
