Now for the treble

Anything Manchester United can do so can the boys at Terenure College

Anything Manchester United can do so can the boys at Terenure College. Last week they also recorded a double when winning Leinster titles at Rathfarnham and the Curragh. On Monday they played in the Irish Schools' championship and after beating their close rivals Blackrock College in the semi-final they went on to win the final with a 3 1/2-1 1/2 win over St Paul's College, Raheny. St Paul's had beaten The King's Hospital in their semi-final.

And Terenure completed the notable double on Thursday when their team of David Ryan (captain), Richard Muldowney, Scott Diamond, Killian Duffy and Aidan Murphy won the Golfworks Leinster Matchplay championship at the Curragh. In the semi-finals Terenure beat Scoil Eoin, Athy, by five holes and in the final they again overcame the challenge of Blackrock College by seven holes. This was Terenure's first success in this competition and they will now represent Leinster in the All-Ireland finals in Roscommon on August 24th.
