SCHOOLS RUGBY SECTION 'A' LEAGUE FINAL:NEWPARK COMPREHENSIVE scored four tries on their way to clinching the 'A' League final at a windy North Kildare yesterday afternoon.
A David Butler penalty put Wilson’s Hospital in front after three minutes but unconverted tries from captain Eoin Gorman and Aco Keating put the Blackrock school firmly in charge before half-time.
Newpark didn’t have it all their own way though and, with just one score between the teams, they had a number of close calls on their own goal line as Wilson’s piled on the pressure. But Oltain Dervishi’s try in the 45th minute, converted by James Kelly, gave them some breathing space.
Substitute Sam Crowe went over the line under the posts in the final action of the game, a try which Keating converted to huge roars from Newpark supporters.
