John McCartney will return to his studies this week happy in the knowledge that his golf game is in good shape. The 18-year-old set a new course record at his home club Greencastle last week when he scorched round the Donegal venue in 66 shots to beat John McGilloway's old mark by one shot. Four handicap, McCarney, did all the hard work on the front nine which he covered in three under par 31 with a hat-trick of birdies from the fifth. A steady nine pars took John home in 35 for a total of 66 and 43 stableford points.
