Division One B

Clare v Fermanagh, Kilmihil

A tricky fixture for Fermanagh after their slightly unlucky defeat against Down three weeks ago. Clare have proved themselves a very dogged outfit - as evidenced by Martin Daly's late goal salvaging a point in Kildare. Fermanagh created chances, but didn't take them against Down and may find themselves worn down this afternoon.

Down v Derry, Newcastle

Derry's draw with Meath was overshadowed by the Ollie Murphy controversy but they were slightly fortunate to avoid a first NFL defeat in two decades by the current All-Ireland champions. Failure to exploit a winning position was the chief exasperation for joint-manager Eamonn Coleman who makes two changes in attack. Down are uncertain about their own attack and despite the current good form of the defence and home advantage look unlikely to use this match to press their claims for the play-offs.

Meath v Mayo, Navan

An important fixture in the relegation stakes. Mayo have beefed up with the Crossmolina players missing during the club championship and that will strengthen their hand. But Meath showed great improvement in their last outing and were unlucky not to take the points in Derry. Although the Ollie Murphy affair casts its shadow, Meath look to be in gear for the season ahead - which is bad news for Mayo whose fate will probably hang on the last fixture against Down.

Division Two A

Leitrim v Offaly, Carrick-on-Shannon

Leitrim's good win in Westmeath fuelled promotion ambitions which will do well to survive the visit of the leaders.

Limerick v London, Gaelic Grounds

Basement tie-breaker with the home side looking likely to rack up their first points and leave the visitors as the only county in the NFL on nul points.

Antrim v Wicklow, Casement Park

This will test Wicklow's credentials. Their fade-out against Louth raised doubts which Antrim's sound defence but erratic attack will try and exploit. Nonetheless, the visitors should shade it.

Division Two B

Tipperary v Cavan, Templemore

Two under-performing sides with Cavan looking perhaps the more improved and a better bet for the points here.

Carlow v Wexford, Dr Cullen Park

Both lost the last day but Wexford were under-strength and playing the divisional leaders, Laois. They should do better against their neighbours.

Sunday

Division One A

Donegal v Kerry, Ballyshannon (3.0)

Kerry took their time about copperfastening the win over Roscommon and will be looking for a better return from the forwards. Donegal struggled physically against Dublin and move John Gildea to partner Jim McGuinness at centrefield in an attempt to combat the presence of Dara O Se and Donal Daly and counter the impact on the attack by shifting wing back Niall McCready. A win virtually guarantees Kerry a semi-final place even with the visit of Galway to come. Donegal could yet be sucked into the relegation pit and by tomorrow evening, despite the re-inforced selection, should be closer to that uncomfortable prospect.

Cork v Tyrone, Pairc Ui Chaoimh (2.30)

Both sides are within a point of Armagh at the bottom. Cork's finishing against Armagh was poor and Steven O'Brien starts for the first time in over a year, at full forward. Nemo clubmate Colin Corkery's re-appearance on the subs' bench is further evidence that Larry Tompkins knows that his major task is to improve the attack. Tyrone haven't got going this campaign and have taken only one point since the opening-day win over Dublin. This should be close but the holders are slightly favoured.

Roscommon v Armagh, Hyde Park

Vital stuff for both sides. Armagh need to get motoring if they're to stand a chance of avoiding relegation whereas Roscommon must win to have an outside chance of forcing a way into the semi-finals. The home side have been solid rather than spectacular but that may suffice as Armagh are likely at this stage to be more focused on retaining their Ulster championship.

Division One B

Sligo v Kildare, Markievicz Park

A great chance for Sligo to enhance their challenge for the semi-finals. Kildare are one of five teams on four points but will be weakened by the absence of Ronan Quinn and Karl O'Dwyer. Sligo have strung some good results together and can add this one tomorrow.

Division Two A

Louth v Westmeath, Drogheda

The bus has left as far as Westmeath are concerned but Louth are lying in second place and should be in a position to capitalise should Offaly slip up in Leitrim.

Division Two B

Laois v Waterford, Portlaoise

Laois should retain their 100 per cent record and in the process improve the NFL's best scoring average.

Monaghan v Longford, Scotstown

A tussle between second and third with Monaghan favoured to bring Longford's recent good run to a halt.
