Prince Naseem Hamed will face a new - and tougher - opponent at Sheffield Arena on Saturday. Hamed will meet No 1 contender Jose Badillo in defence of his WBO featherweight title on Frank Warren's promotion of 10 title bouts.
It was the fight Warren wanted, and was able to secure when Badillo's scheduled contest in California next week fell through. Hamed was to have faced Colombia's Victor Llerena, but Llerena has now agreed to step aside after being compensated.
Warren said: "Badillo is a great fight, Llerena will get his chance in 1998. He (Badillo) is a better opponent and has a terrific record, having put Tom Johnson on the floor three times in a title fight in December, 1995."
Badillo, a 27-year-old Puerto Rican, has 20 wins on his record with 15 knockouts and the one defeat against former IBF champion Johnson, beaten by Hamed earlier this year.
