The Minister for Public Enterprises, Ms O'Rourke, is to meet the chairman and chief executive of CIE today. She also plans to meet the chairman and chief executive of Telecom in the near future as well as heads of other semi-state companies.
Ms O'Rourke said the meeting with CIE chairman, Mr Brian Joyce and chief executive, Mr Michael McDonnell, would be wide ranging and "involve the company's plans for the future as well as focusing on the 1996 accounts. She said it would also be useful in helping her familiarise herself with the challenges and opportunities facing CIE.
CIE is expected to announce its 1996 results next week. They are expected to show that the group incurred a Pounds 58 million loss last year.
