League Cup Semi-final/Limerick FC 0 Derry City 3: Derry City swept into the League Cup Final in which they will meet Shelbourne with a second half goal rush against Limerick at Hogan Park last night and gained ample revenge for their shock defeat by the Shannonsiders in the final of the same competition four years ago at the Brandywell.

Showing nine changes in personnel from the team which drew with UCD in the league at the weekend the Premier Division side were streets ahead in fitness and skill even though it took them until 57 minutes to break down a stubborn Limerick defence.

Derry were content to tease them out in the opening 45 minutes but sent out warning signals at the start of the second half when Paddy McCourt shaved the woodwork.

Limerick's resistance ended on 57 minutes when a McCourt cross was sweetly dispatched to the net by Garret McGlynn and three minutes later it was all over for Limerick when their former striker, Stephen O'Flynn, claimed goal number two.
