GOLF: Graeme McDowell has pulled out of this week's PGA Tour Wells Fargo event at Quail Hollow. The 2010 US Open champion said he felt "under the weather" at last week's Zurich Classic. "Very much wanted to play Quail Hollow but didn't want to go there undercooked," he said.
Rory McIlroy will be in action at the event where he claimed his first PGA Tour win in 2010.
Meanwhile, West Waterford’s Gary Hurley is expected to be confirmed as the winner of the Trubshaw Cup after the event in South Wales was curtailed because of heavy rain. Hurley shot two fantastic gross rounds of 72 to claim the Golden Eagle trophy at Tenby on day one of the tournament. He was holding a five-shot lead following the completion of the first 36 holes.
