THE Mater Hospital bridged a 28 year gap when winning the Dublin Hospitals Cup at Anglesea Road last night.
By and large, Mater kept St Vincent's away from their own line and beavered away at their defensive frailties, earning a Hugh McMahon penalty as reward. In the 25th minute, number eight Frank Kenny forced his way over for a try which Walsh converted and Mater led 10-0 at half time.
A Brian Burns penalty brought St Vincent's back into the match but the only other score was a Damian Kenny try with three minutes remaining.
