ARGENTINA'S Supreme Court has opened the door to a possible jail term for Diego Maradona by rejecting his request to perform community service for allegedly shooting at reporters with an air rifle in 1994

The judge in charge of Maradona's case is due to give a verdict and, if he is found guilty, a sentence in the next few weeks.

State prosecutor Alejandro Caride wants a four-year sentence and argues that the former Argentina skipper is guilty of five woundings.
