"I'm disappointed not to have won," said Bray Wanderers manager Pat Devlin after a display which, he felt, had been good enough to earn them their second Harp Lager FAI Cup of the 90s.

"There was the chance at the end which should have gone in and there was the question of the penalty which, from where I was standing, certainly looked like a penalty. So between the two of them we really should have got the goal that would have won it for us."

Devlin paid tribute to all of his players on the day, describing the back three as magnificent and singling out Ray Kenny, who made his first start for the club yesterday, for particular attention.

"We have a strong squad, though, and we won the reserve division title, so we have those sort of options," he said. "In fact," he added with a broad grin "there might be a few more of those when we get back here next week."

Fox's late miss, he admitted, was a disappointment but "Stephen is probably the find of the season and overall he was magnificent for us out there today."

Asked about the lack of support in Tolka Park from the town, Devlin pointed to many fans of English clubs who travel across the water on a regular basis "clutching wads of notes" but who can't see their way to make it along to a cup final.

"I'd like to thank everybody who did come along today and all of the people who support us in other ways, but I do think it's terrible to say that we don't get more out to get behind a club that puts so much back into the community.

"From our point of view the draw is probably a bit of a pain but we'll try to enjoy the extra week and maybe, with a bit of luck, we'll even pick up a few more supporters in time for next Sunday."
