St Patricks Athletic - 1 Longford Town - 3: The curtain came down on an unremarkable campaign for both sides with a facile victory for the visitors at Richmond Park last night.

In the end, a 10-minute flurry before the half-time interval was sufficient to give the midlanders all three points, with the normally reliable St Patrick's Athletic often at fault.

This was particularly evident in the game's opening goal in the 34th minute. The hosts were seemingly in no trouble after a speculative punt forward from Longford defender Stephen Gough.

However, as St Patrick's right full back Stephen Quigley and stand-in goalkeeper Brendan Clarke both waited for the other to take responsibility, visiting striker Andy Myler found space between them to cheekily lob into the unguarded net.

Ten minutes later, Clarke was picking the ball out of the net again in equally frustrating circumstances. An Alan Kirby free-kick was nodded across the home penalty area by Dean Fitzgerald, and Longford captain Seán Dillon had ample time to find the target from eight yards.

St Patrick's Athletic conceded a third on the hour mark when Danny O'Connor headed another Kirby free-kick past Clarke.

The hosts pulled one back with four minutes remaining when Seán O'Connor headed past Michael Dempsey from close range.
