Hurling: Former All Star goalkeeper Joe Quaid is set to make a dramatic return to the Limerick senior hurling panel.

After seven years in the top flight, Quaid caused a surprise when he announced his retirement from the intercounty scene earlier this year.

But now, following talks with Limerick manager Eamon Cregan and his selectors, Quaid, who continued club hurling with Murroe Boher, has agreed to join the squad in January.

"Joe's return will give us that bit more experience in our quest for double honours next season and it also means we now have a choice of four goalkeepers," Cregan said.

Meanwhile, four replacement hurlers were yesterday named for the forthcoming Eircell All Star tour of Argentina.

Wexford goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry, Seβn McMahon of Clare and Limerick duo Ollie Moran and Brian Begley have been called up.

They will step in for the unavailable quartet of Charlie Carter and DJ Carey of Kilkenny, Galway's Eugene Cloonan and goalkeeper Brendan Cummins of Tipperary.

The 2000 and 2001 All Stars will play an exhibition in the hurling club of Buenos Aires on Saturday, January 26th.

The manager of the 2000 team will be Brian Cody of Kilkenny and Nicholas English of Tipperary will be in charge of the 2001 All Stars.
