A Shane Lawlor penalty with five minutes remaining took this game at Westmanstown yesterday to a replay. The two schools, who met in the Senior Cup at Donnybrook on Wednesday, adjusted well to a very sticky surface.
Just on half-time, Castleknock took the lead when outhalf Denis Hurley went over with Lawlor adding the conversion. But High School remained in touch with their influential outhalf, Rob Smyth, reducing the arrears after the break with a penalty.
Castleknock then conceded a soft try after a pass back from a scrum in their 22 landed them in trouble behind their posts. Smyth took advantage to claim the try and converted to put his team 10-7 in front before Lawlor left the sides level.
