ST VINCENT'S and Ballyboden St Enda's qualified for the semi finals of the Dublin senior hurling championship following victories last night over Craobh Chiarain and Crumlin, respectively.

St Vincent's 5-16 to 1-12 win at O'Toole Park was far tougher than the final scoreline suggests as Craobh Chiarain forced the pace for much of the match. Intercounty player Gerry Ennis and free taker Connie Ring had combined to embarrass the St Vincent's defence and with 12 minutes to go, Bichie Burke's goal was the main difference between the sides.

But in a blistering final quarter a goal from Terry Jennings and two more from Sean McDermott, who ended up as St Vincent's top scorer with an impressive 2-8, produced a flattering result in St Vincent's favour.

The key figure in Ballyboden St Enda's 0-12 to 0-7 win at Silver Park, Stillorgan, was Paddy Corrigan, the former Offaly player.

Corrigan contributed nine points of the winners' total, four of which came from play. Despite Crumlin's tight marking in defence and surprisingly numerous score takers, they could not look to any one individual to inspire them, as Corrigan inspired Ballyboden.

Although Corrigan took the scoring honours there was no doubting that Ballyboden owed much to a tight defence that denied Crumlin the space they needed to create the scores that would make the difference.
