Schools Rugby/Belvedere College 46, St Andrew's College 6: Belvedere College breezed into the second round of the Leinster Senior Cup with a comprehensive victory over St Andrew's College at Anglesea Road yesterday.
One of the traditional favourites for overall victory in the competition, Belvedere will come up against sterner opposition in the coming weeks.
In out half Ian Keatley they also possess one of the most exciting players in this year's competition and he produced a masterful display of running rugby which set the tone for the game.
There was only 30 seconds on the clock when Keatley ran over for the first try which he then converted before hooker Cian Healy grabbed the first of his two tries.
St Andrew's outhalf Felix Jones did his best to claw his side back into the game with two penalties but even getting into the Belvedere half was proving a very difficult task for the Booterstown college.
The tie was killed off either side of the break as flanker Robert Carson grabbed a fine try on the stroke of half-time before Healy ploughed over just after the restart. Belverdere were well out of reach when Brian Moran and Robbie O'Brien crossed for late tries.
