RAISED 12lb after winning her maiden hurdle in a canter at Tipperary earlier this month, the in foal Kates Choice again trotted in at Clonmel a week ago. She attempts the hat trick in the Shannon Handicap Hurdle at Thurles this evening and the handicapper may not have yet taken her measure.

Most of the opposition have been disappointing of late and only Back To Black, a course and distance winner here two years ago and successful in a Flat handicap at Leopardstown this year, should pose a real threat to Kates Choice.

Although the ground has been watered it is still officially firm and yet the biggest field of the evening is for the Moycarkery Beginners Chase. It is a fairly ordinary contest and the front running Celtic Buck must have a chance if finding the form he showed when second in similar event to Quattro at Clonmel.

For a horse having his first outing of the year, Lowlack performed quite well for a considerable way in a Roscommon apprentice handicap recently and might be worth taking a chance with to beat La Maya in the Horse and Jockey Handicap.
