SIGERSON CUP UUJ 1-10 UL 1-9:JORDANSTOWN were expected to win this match at their ease, but the University of Limerick proved tough opponents and were unfortunate to lose.

After a shaky start Limerick took control midway through the first-half to score 1-5 without reply as corner-forward David Conway terrorised the Jordanstown defence and John O’Rourke scored a smashing goal.

Jordanstown still hadn’t recovered their composure by the early stages of the second half as they kicked wide after wide.

But with Limerick three points ahead, Diarmuid McNulty profited from a fortunate break of the ball to smash home an equalising goal.

Even though Jordanstown were now dominating, they struggled to break down a Limerick defence superbly marshalled by Mike Moloney, David Dolan and Fionn Fitzgerald.

But Jordanstown’s perseverence was rewarded when centre-forward Paul Devlin kicked a fine brace of points. Limerick’s late siege could only yield a point.
