Jones unified the light-heavyweight world title by winning every round in a brutal beating of Reggie Johnson in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Jones, who had said Johnson was partially responsible for his split with his trainer father, punished his opponent over 12 merciless rounds.
IBF champion Johnson hit the canvas after a vicious right midway through the first round and although he was up quickly he was bleeding from the right eye.
In the third round, Jones, holder of the WBC and WBA titles, countered a right from his opponent with a left-right combination that sent Johnson to the canvas again but was saved by the bell.
Johnson spent most of the fight from the fourth backing away or covering up which allowed Jones to hit him almost at will.
