MICHAEL JARVIS hit the Evry jackpot yesterday with Deep Finesse, as the British juvenile held the running on Joyeuse Entree by a length in the Listed Prix la Fleche under Philip Robinson.
Deep Finesse, a 9.2 to 1 shot on the Pari Mutuel, was kicked into the lead two out before withstanding the good effort of the runner up who had be switched for a run.
Jarvis said "Deep Finesse lost concentration last time out, but he did the business here and it is possible that he could now have a crack at the Prix Robert Papin."
Jeremy Glovers Croft Pool under Steve Williams came within a whisker of completing a British Listed double in the Prix Hampton (5f) only to be touched off by the flying finish of Kistena.
Croft Pool appealed as the likely winner when taking it up one out, only to be denied on the line by the winner, who got up to short head the British runner. Glover said. "It was a great effort by Croft Pool and he will probably return to France in the near future for similar contests."
The Jarvis runner, Blue Iris, also ridden by Robinson, made the early pace before weakening into fourth the best part of four lengths behind the winner.
