Former British and US Open champion Tony Jacklin returns to the course where he played in the 1961 British boys' championship hoping a new putter will see him recapture the glory years.

On the eve of the Golden Charter Scottish Open, the newest tournament on the European Seniors Tour, Jacklin returned to Dalmahoy, near Edinburgh, where he admitted he had become so exasperated with his putting that he came close to giving up the game.

From tee to green Jacklin, who drew the biggest crowds in yesterday's pro-am, is still worth watching and now, armed with a new long-shafted putter he's raring to go in the opening round of the £150,000 tournament.

As ever, the man to beat is leading money winner Tommy Horton, whose tour earnings of more than £107,000 is £8,000 ahead of British Seniors champion, Brian Huggett.
