Fiorentina stayed top of Italy's Serie A with a 3-0 home win over Vicenza yesterday, but former Crystal Palace striker Attilio Lombardo scored for Lazio as the Rome club made sure the pressure stays on the leaders.
Giulio Falcone fired home in the 36th minute after fine work by Edmundo and Moreno Torricelli made it 2-0 to Fiorentina just three minutes later with a searing shot into the far corner of the net. Skipper Gabriel Batistuta, Serie A's top scorer, notched his 18th goal in 19 games to complete the rout in the closing minutes.
Fiorentina, who have now won all 10 home games this season, stay three points clear of Lazio, who bounced back from a crushing midweek Italian Cup defeat by Inter to beat Bari 3-1.
Lombardo, who left the English first division last week, made a remarkable return to Italian football, scoring on his league debut in the 21st minute. The midfielder also scored on his cup debut in Wednesday night's 5-2 drubbing at the San Siro.

Barcelona's much-criticised Dutch players scored two of their three goals in a 3-2 win over Racing Santander to take them back to the top of the Spanish League.
