Joey O'Meara and his team of workers in Elm Park have been so delighted at the revival of the golf match between former international sportsmen from four field disciplines - hockey, cricket, soccer and rugby - that the match scheduled for May 28th at the south city club may not be a onceoff after all.
"The interest has been tremendous," he explained, "so much so that we may make it an annual affair." Already, two teams have been selected for the match: Hockey - Liam Canning, Simon Filgas, Dick Fitzsimons, Philip Hardy, David Judge, Joey O'Meara, David O'Driscoll, Tom Jenkinson, Gordon Watkins, Ken Haughton, Nigel Kingston. Cricket - Mark Cohen, Angus Dunlop, John Garth, Michael Halliday, Conor Hoey, Ken Hope, Stan Mitchell, Ian Lewis, Enda McDermott, Greg Molins, Alec O'Riordan.
