Barry Hills and Richard Hughes stole the show with a 22 to 1 treble highlighted by Prolix's splendid success in the Group Three Tennent Caledonian Breweries Scottish Classic at Ayr yesterday.

Hughes rode four winners on Saturday - two of them for Hills - and he again showed superb judgment of pace as Prolix made all to win in convincing fashion.

Il Capitano started the Hills-Hughes ball rolling in the EBF Maiden Stakes and Cheshire Cat, blinkered for the first time, completed the treble but had to work pretty hard to open her account in the Highland Mary Maiden Stakes.

Hughes has to return to Ayr on July 26th to face the stewards as he had left the course for Beverley's evening meeting before they could inquire into why his mount Persian Fayre did not arrive at the start of the Glasgow Holiday Handicap until a minute after the official off time.
