WIMBLEDON'S highly rated but unsettled striker Dean Holdsworth has handed in a transfer request - and manager Joe Kinnear is happy to, let him go.
Wimbledon's owner, Sam Hammam, confirmed yesterday that the £4 million rated striker had submitted a written request to leave but refused to say whether it had been accepted.
Kinnear, who dropped Holdsworth for Monday's 1-0 defeat at Leeds and then had a bust up with him when he refused to take a place on the substitutes bench, has already made it clear the striker is free to leave.
"As far as I'm concerned, if he wants to go I will not stand in his way. You can't compete with egos so I'll just sit by the phone and wait for offers," Kinnear says.
Norwegian midfielder Oyvind Leonhardsen who was also dropped for the Leeds game and also would not accept being a substitute, is expected to follow Holdsworth's example and ask for a move.
Hammam is resigned to the departure of the player he "loves".
Everton and Leeds United are two clubs who have apparently shown an interest in the player. Ian Harte crowned a week to remember with the goal that gave Leeds United a 1-0 win over Blackburn at Ewood Park last night. Harte, who scored in Ireland's 5-0 win over Liechtenstein, on Saturday, was on target in the 40th minute when he met Lee Sharpe's free kick with a textbook downward header at the far post.
